Hop into the bucket seat desk of my university on wheels and we will head to class. Today, we will discuss the benefits of “Professor TED” talks. As you may know these come to you in various delivery platforms. I usually use my TED app that I picked up from the App Store, then Bluetooth it into my sound system. The beauty of this platform is that it captures a history of the TED Talks that I have listened to. From this they use some sort of algorithm which recommends specific talks based on your previous likes and history.
Every so often Professor TED gives you what I will call “pop quiz”. This is one of those talks that smacks you with a new tip or technique that you have not thought about for a while or some cases never. You are always better after the quiz because you have expanded your knowledge base.
Another reason that Professor TED Is a favorite - is that you can get subjects and “Guest professors” that you would never have in your geographic area to learn from. The last such class was “Let’s use video to reinvent education” by Sl Khan. Surprisingly enough I listened to it prior to COVID-19, in fact it was a 2011 TED Talk. This specific course put enough creases in my brain, that I was able to understand a bit better what teachers and students would need to be successful when the schools closed. It was not as big of concern for me as it was for many folks who thought you had to be inside four walls to learn.
Until Next Time. - Listen and Learn.
